During the Easter holidays I was given the task of completing a design for a deckchair associated with the Derby Museum and exhibition. In response I launched the following work.
1. learn about recliner design and find good examples
Before starting the design I searched the internet for designers of deckchair and got some inspiration from some of them.
2. research the branding guidelines for the Derby Museum
Read the branding guidelines for the museum, analysed the logo, split the structure and came up with new ideas.
3. research the branding guidelines for the University of Derby
Read the information, expand the analysis of the university logo, link it to the museum's logo and find out the possibilities of the connection between the two.
4. analysis of two logos
Put the two logos together and analyse them to find commonalities between them. Reinforce the identity of both logos. Extract the characteristics of each from the two logos, amplify them and integrate them.
5. draft design
Based on the previous work, determine the design style and then carry out a draft design to finalise the preliminary design.
6. Using the software, complete the design
Use ps, ai and other software to realise the draft and complete the final design.
This is how I ended up with the design. A simple pattern with a logo and the addition of text to complete a simple, colourful, summer-ready deckchair design.
